Serving as a regional conference, educational and cultural institution, the Swabian Educational Centre at Irsee is steeped in the tradition of the former imperial abbey. Listening to music on the baroque Balthasar Freiwiß organ in the Irsee Abbey Church gives us a sense of the high artistic level that once existed at the monastery. The same is true of choral works by Irsee’s musical prior Meinrad Spieß and the recently published compositions of its resident Benedictine monks, Carolus Andreae and Gregor Stemmele.

SOLENNIA – Irsee and the World of the Renaissance

The Aurelius Sängerknaben Calw under the direction of Bernhard Kugler presents Renaissance music from Irsee Abbey with Samuel Schick and Roland Götz on two different organs.

Early Music in New Spaces

Roland Götz has recorded the Renaissance cycle “Ich gieng einmal spatieren” by Hans Leo Hassler (1564–1612) on a Flemish harpsichord in the Garden Hall of the new cooperage at Irsee Abbey.

Meinrad Spieß – Baroque Monastery Music from Irsee

The Aurelius Sängerknaben Calw, together with instrumental ensembles from studio XVII augsburg, have recorded a representative cross-section of Spieß’s works largely for the first time. The recordings, featuring Roland Götz on the organ, were conducted by Bernhard Kugler. Produced in collaboration with BR-Klassik, the project is presented by the Irsee Monastery, the conference, educational, and cultural center of the Swabia district.

Irsee Organ Music

In addition, Roland Götz has made recordings on the Balthasar-Freiwiß organ in the Irsee monastery church:
